Hills Drama Festival
The inaugural Hills Drama Festival was held at Marloo Theatre on September 18, 19, 20.
A selection of short plays was performed to enthusiastic audiences over Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday morning. Adjudicator Peter Clarke assessed the shows and offered critical comments after each session. At the end of the session on the Sunday, awards were presented in a number of categories.
Later, the Perth Brass Band performed to wrap up the weekend.

The awards:

- Best characterisation: Murray Jackson – Trainspotting (Blak Yak)
- Best ensemble work: The Chateau (Garrick Theatre)
- Encouragement award: Two Awards!
- Actor / Amber English – 'Evacuees' (Darlington Theatre Players)
- Director / Kirsty MacDonald – Wedding Day (Darlington Theatre Players)
- Best Original Play: Nominations: a) 'Lily' – Colin Lloyd Price b) 'The Evacuees' – LaVerne Kirton c) 'The Chateau' – Phillip Ryall.
